Albeit just over three feet long…

With the help of Dean’s Marine, Peterborough, who supplied the kit, I am going to attempt to build a one-metre long narrowboat. Having taken delivery of the model, you can see from the image that this is a pretty comprehensive piece of kit and having never built anything before in my life, this will be quite a challenge.

I was going to build a static model – which may have been easier, but Dean’s Marine, suggested it would be better to make it remote control so it could be sailed. This means putting in a motor, and wiring it up ready!

Apparently, Dean’s Marine say quite a few people have bought the model and built it to the specification they want their full-sized boat building to, just to give them a feel of what the real life version will be like. The model is one twelfth scale and can be fitted out with doll’s house furniture.

So, please be patient and I will try to make a bit of headway each month. Enjoy the journey, it could be a bit choppy!
