The Environment Agency says the developments will mean moorings will be run “by boaters, for boaters”

A new company has been set up to operate 21 out of 22 visitor mooring sites on the non-tidal Thames.

Thames Visitor Moorings is owned and operated by former Chair of the Residential Boat Owners’ Association, Rex Walden, initially for 12 months, which began on 16 November.

In 2013, the Agency had set up ‘car park style’ terms and conditions including overstaying charges, in partnership with a car park firm.

However, this relied on boaters being able to register their arrival during lock keepers’ hours.

Now, boaters can register with TVP by phone or online any time, and pay any fees via Paypal.
