River Medway

RIVER MEDWAY

The Medway provides over 20 miles of non-tidal boating in Kent, running from Tonbridge to Allington below Maidstone. Despite flowing through one of the more populous counties, much of the waterway follows an isolated course with villages set back and the river surrounded by meadows. Below Allington the tidal river leads to the Thames estuary, providing a connection with the main waterways network – but this should only be attempted in suitable and properly-equipped craft and with appropriate local knowledge of the estuaries.29 miles 10 locksMaximum dimensions: length 80ft, beam 18ft 6in
