RIVER GREAT OUSE

From just above Bedford the river descends via St Neots, Huntingdon and St Ives before following a course around the east side of the flat fenlands to Ely and Littleport. At Denver, the river becomes tidal so boaters travelling beyond to Kings Lynn and the Wash should take appropriate precautions. The Great Ouse is joined by attractive tributaries the Wissey Lark, Cam and Great Ouse, and there is also a useful link from Salters Lode to the Middle Level system and through to the River Nene. From Denver the Flood Relief Channel is now navigable northwards for several miles and one day will provide a non-tidal link to Kings Lynn.
