A team of local volunteers is on the hunt for more recruits who they hope will be able to help look after the 200 year old Lancaster Canal in Preston.

The team get together once a month and do a variety of different tasks on the canal. The next events are on the 20 July and 17 August. Anyone who is interested needs to email Jodie Weathers: Jodie.weathers@canalrivertrust.org.uk for further details.

The work is part of the Trust’s Towpath Taskforce volunteering project which provides regular volunteering opportunities for local communities which, as well as benefitting our canals and rivers, also create memorable and rewarding experiences for everyone who takes part.

Jodie Weathers, from the Canal & River Trust, said: “We’re so grateful to all our volunteers who give up their time to help us improve the canal in Preston. We want to make sure it is in the best condition and the more people we have, the more we can get done. It’s really rewarding and you’ll also get the chance to meet new friends, get out and about in the fresh air and make a difference to your local community.
