Battery on/off switches might not be the sexiest products in the world, but they can be a pain in the back.

Given that they should be placed near the batteries, that often means under the deckboards, so to turn off the power you have to lift the boards, and we all know what a pain that can be, especially if you have to do it often. Which is where these new battery switches come in.

As well as being a heavy-duty, 12 or 24v manual on/off toggle switch, the Axon AX500 range include a magnetic solenoid which needs just three amps via a thin wire to energise them. This means you can simply have a small rocker switch on your throttle stand or just inside the rear hatch to turn the batteries on and off. We think that’s a rather neat idea.

Prices start from around £52.
