People are being invited to have a free go at paddle boarding and kayaking at Aylesbury Basin on Saturday 16 July from 10am - 3pm.

The event is being run by the charity, Canal & River Trust, working in partnership with Sport England, the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery and Chiltern Canoe Club. Anyone over 12 years old is able to take part, there is no need to book and all equipment is provided.

Joe Sammon, from the Canal & River Trust, said: “If you’ve never been on the water before, this event is a way to give it a try and you never know, you may love it!

“Stand up paddle boarding is one of the UK’s fastest growing water sports and is really great fun. It’s similar to surfing with boarders using a paddle to propel themselves along the water and is really easy to pick up so is suitable for the whole family.”

The meeting point for the event is behind the Waterside Theatre (HP20 1UG). A spare change of clothing is recommended.
