The Oxford Canal is unlike modern canal systems in the way that it follows the contours around the hills as opposed to having cuttings or embankments. This is perhaps one of the reasons for its popularity - twisting through quiet countryside and tiny villages – it is arguably one of the most picturesque cruising canals in Britain.
The Oxford canal is subject to various closures to navigation over the winter period. To find an updated list of stoppages follow this link.
