Tell the Canal & River Trust what wildlife you see while out on the canals

The Canal & River Trust have developed an app to celebrate their launch. The app allows you to tell them about what wildlife you see.

Whether it’s a fish, bird or any other wildlife you can record whatever you see while out on the canals, rivers or while docked. It also has a Species ID, which has images and descriptions of over 60 different types of wildlife you can spot. The app will also have live maps which show you whatever local people have found on the same canal as you.

All the records are going to be used for the Trust’s environment team to keep an eye on what wildlife is living where. This information will help the team when they are planning work and help protect the species that need it. The app includes 100+ canals and rivers in which you can record your wildlife spottings Including popular waterway features such as standedge tunnel and the anderton lift. Each site contains an information sheet including a map of all the features to look at.

This app will be fun to use and can be downloaded on your iOS or Android device. Just search for eNatureWatch in the App Store or Google Play and start spotting.

there are links to download it on canalrivertrust.org.uk, which also includes downloadable PDFs of all the information sheets for those without smart phones.
