Volunteers built a tranquil space in Stourbridge for locals and boaters to remember loved ones

The memorial garden was designed by the Stewponey Volunteer group to best utilise the relaxing sounds of the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal and the wildlife seen there.

A gravel pathway leads to a newly installed bench, which is surrounded by freshly planted trees, shrubs and wildflowers.

As well as being a place to remember loved ones who have passed away, visitors will soon be able to buy a memorial plaque from the Canal & River Trust, which will be placed in the garden.

Terry Hodgetts of the CRT said: “Many people like to have something or somewhere special to go to remember someone and this memorial garden is a perfect quiet spot along the canal where you can do just that.”
