RIPON CANAL

Ripon Canal

The Ripon Canal reaches one of the northernmost points on the waterways network. Only just over two miles long with three locks, the canal links Ripon to the River Ure. All but the lowest part of the canal fell derelict in the 1950s, but was restored and reopened forty years later, and its fine terminus basin now provides excellent moorings and access to the historic city.
