RIVER LITTLE OUSE

This tributary of the Great Ouse is also known as the Brandon River or Creek, and was once navigable all the way to Thetford. The upper reaches have long since been abandoned, but there are proposals to reopen some of this length. For now, the river provides an excursion from the Great Ouse to Brandon, although boats longer than about 40ft will have to stop just outside the town as Brandon Lock is very short.

14 miles 1 lock
Maximum dimensions: length 40ft (Brandon Lock only), beam 14ft 6in
