LATEST NEWS... COTSWOLD CANALS GETS ITS 'YES'

The project to restore the Cotswold Canals has received a crucial boost after the Heritage Lottery Fund said it would accept Stroud District Council’s business plan for the project following British Waterways’ sudden pull-out.

The decision, subject to certain conditions, secures the £11.9 million from the HLF necessary for the project to progress. Stroud District Council said: “This is fantastic news for the Stroud District and for the negotiating team.

“It is time for the work that has been waiting upon the decision from the HLF to proceed with all despatch – full steam ahead.”
